The Netflix show Wellmania tells in eight episodes about the efforts of journalist Liv to improve her health. Unfortunately, there will be no Season 2.
Wellmania is an Australian Netflix Original comedy developed by Brigid Delaney and Benjamin Law. It is based on the book Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness by Delaney. The series premiered in March 2023 with eight episodes on Netflix.
The story revolves around Liv Healy, portrayed by Celeste Barber, a 39-year-old gastronomy journalist who is confronted with a serious health crisis. Liv embarks on a journey to regain her well-being, exploring various methods along the way. Will there be a return of Wellmania for Season 2?
Netflix will not be granting Wellmania a Season 2
After several months, there is now certainty: Wellmania will not be renewed for a second season. As the lead actress Celeste Barber recently informed her followers in an Instagram post, the streaming service Netflix has officially canceled the series:
“I just wanted to check in and give you a little update to let you know that Wellmania will not be renewed for another season. I understand overall what’s going on in the world; who the hell cares? But many of you care, many of you still ask me what’s happening. So yeah, we found out yesterday that it’s not being renewed.”
“Netflix said it’s about the numbers. Sure, I thought Wellmania was through the roof, but I don’t understand how that works. I just thank you for the love. Thank you so much for the love and support around the show. It was so fun. We had a great time, and the way it was received was so overwhelming.”
Apparently, the series could not attract enough viewers to warrant a Season 2 from Netflix. Fans still have the option to read the book of the same name or to look for alternatives. These could include the series Frasier or Anger Management on Paramount+ and Freevee.
