The third and so far final season of Santa Clarita Diet aired on Netflix in 2019. Since then, fans have been patiently waiting for a sequel – but what’s the deal with Season 4?
For three years, Santa Clarita Diet was a fan favorite on Netflix. The mix of dark humor, zombie action, and chaotic family life really hit the mark. At the center are Joel and Sheila Hammond, a seemingly normal married couple living with their daughter Abby in sunny California – until things suddenly take a wild turn.
After a strange ritual, Sheila develops a craving for human flesh. Not ideal. From then on, the family does their best to keep Sheila’s zombie situation under wraps while searching for a cure. Easier said than done – with plenty of crazy twists along the way.
Is Santa Clarita Diet Getting a Season 4?
Season 1 dropped in 2017, followed by two more. But after Season 3, that was it – and unfortunately, it’s final. Netflix officially confirmed shortly after the last season’s release that there wouldn’t be a fourth. A shame, especially since creator Victor Fresco had plans to keep the zombie fun going.
The series even ended on a major cliffhanger: Sheila bites Joel to save his life – but in doing so, turns him into a zombie too. In an interview with LADbible, Fresco said he would’ve loved to explore that dynamic in another season: “We thought it would be fun to have Joel and Sheila in the same boat – to see how that would play out. I think it would’ve been great for us and for the fans.”

What to Watch Instead of Santa Clarita Diet: Similar Shows
