Platinum End comes from the creators of the legendary manga Death Note and tells a gripping story about a deadly competition. After the first season, many fans are wondering: Will there be Season 2?
Death Note is without a doubt one of the most popular and well-known manga series worldwide. From 2015 to 2021, the creative duo Tsugumi Ōba and Takeshi Obata released Platinum End, another dark and thought-provoking series that bears some similarities to their earlier success. In 2021, the manga was adapted into an anime. The first season consists of 24 episodes – but what comes next?
What is Platinum End about?
The story centers on Mirai Kakehashi, a young man who, after the tragic death of his parents, is forced to live with relatives who mistreat him and make his life unbearable. Feeling hopeless, he decides to end his life. But just as he leaps from a building, he’s caught in the arms of a female angel.
This angel introduces herself as his guardian, claiming her mission is to make him happy again. To do so, she grants him supernatural abilities. However, it soon becomes clear that her help may not be as selfless as it seems…
Will there be Season 2?
The anime is based on the completed manga series, which spans 14 volumes. The first season adapts the entire story – including a definitive conclusion to Mirai’s journey. Unfortunately, that also means a second season is currently not in the cards.
Since the plot has already been fully told, there’s no material left for a continuation. So, if you were hoping for Season 2, you’ll likely be disappointed. However, should anything change unexpectedly, we’ll be sure to update this article.
