From 2014 to 2015, the anime Noragami amazed fans and left a lasting impression. Since then, things have been pretty quiet regarding the series. But when can we finally expect Season 3?
Noragami tells the story of the lesser-known god Yato, who one day meets a schoolgirl named Hiyori, and that encounter changes his life forever. The two seasons of the series aired in Japan between 2014 and 2015 and are also available in other countries. However, fans have been waiting for a third season in vain.
What’s the Status of Noragami Season 3?
Despite the last episode airing quite some time ago, Noragami remains a very popular anime. It’s surprising, then, that a third season hasn’t been announced yet. The last sign of life from the series was a bonus episode titled “Issho ni shashin o,” which was released in March 2016.
Why Noragami is currently on hold remains unclear. The studio Bones, which produced the first two seasons, has yet to comment on the matter. According to the website Anime Next Season, declining sales of the disc version in Japan could be one of the reasons.
The Noragami Story is Far From Over
The chances of a third season of Noragami are currently slim. It seems like the creators haven’t planned any additional episodes. However, the story of Yato, Hiyori, and the others is far from over. The manga, which serves as the source material for the anime, has plenty of content for several more seasons.
Adachitoka, the author and illustrator of the manga, has already published 26 volumes and is still not finished. To find out how the story continues after the second season of the anime, you can start with Chapter 39, which is in the 10th volume of the manga. Of course, you can also read the manga from the beginning if you want to fully enjoy the original work.
