The anime My Dress-Up Darling has captured the hearts of many fans. However, so far, only one season has been released – so when can we expect Season 2?
The story revolves around Marin and Gojo, two characters who couldn’t be more different. Marin is lively and outgoing, while Gojo is reserved and introverted. By chance, they discover each other’s hobbies and begin to share their passions together. But their journey is far from over after the first season. So, what do we know about the continuation?
My Dress-Up Darling: Season 2 in Production
The My Dress-Up Darling manga has been around since 2018. Its anime adaptation, released four years later, brought the franchise widespread success. The first season, consisting of 12 episodes, is available to stream on Crunchyroll – either dubbed in English or in the original Japanese with subtitles.
If you’ve been eagerly waiting for Season 2, here’s some good news: The new episodes were officially announced in September 2022 and are already in production! What makes this even more special? A sequel wasn’t initially planned.
Producer Shota Umehara expressed his gratitude to fans: ‘Congratulations on the continuation of My Dress-Up Darling! A second season wasn’t planned, but thanks to everyone who watched the anime and bought merchandise, a sequel became possible! It’s incredible because it wasn’t expected, but as long as people want it, I’ll keep doing my best.’
When Will Season 2 Be Released?
There’s no official release date for Season 2 yet. However, since production is already underway, the wait shouldn’t be too long. We expect My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 to premiere by summer 2025 at the latest – though this is just an estimate and not guaranteed.
If you can’t wait to find out what happens next, the manga is worth checking out. The first season covers the first five volumes, which include 39 chapters. To continue the story, start reading from Chapter 40, found in the sixth volume. The manga is available in English under the title My Dress-Up Darling.
