The Madagascar film series captivated many young and adult viewers worldwide. Madagascar 4 has already been announced – what is the status of the project?
In 2005, Madagascar drew millions of viewers to theaters. It’s no wonder that a second and third part of the comedy directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath was produced. The storyline revolves around the zoo animals Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria from New York City, experiencing adventures on the island of Madagascar and in other parts of the world.
Fans eagerly anticipate another installment of Madagascar. However, currently, little is known about Madagascar 4. You can find out what information we have and when the sequel might be released in the following text.
Madagascar 4: When will the adventures continue?
The future of Madagascar is currently unclear. In fact, the entertainment portal Empire reported as early as 2010 that DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg was planning a fourth installment of Madagascar. In an interview, Katzenberg explained:
“I can tell you pretty confidently where Madagascar goes. Ultimately they (the animals) will return to New York and figure out what they’re going to do in this next chapter. Given the way the film ends, there’s probably another (fourth) chapter…”
Since then, however, it has been mostly quiet about Madagascar 4. Little information about the production has been made public. However, Madagascar writer Tom McGrath confirmed in 2017 to HeyUGuys that they are still working on the sequel. Thus, there is still a chance that the film series will return at some point.
When exactly, we cannot say logically. What is certain is that the story of the New York Zoo animals is not yet fully told. Madagascar 4 must come if DreamWorks intends to conclude the popular film series.
