From April to June 2025, Lazarus captivated anime fans all around the world. Now, of course, the big question arises: When will Season 2 come out?
Lazarus isn’t your typical anime – and that’s exactly what makes it so special. While many Japanese series are based on manga, Lazarus is a completely original production. The mastermind behind it is none other than Shinichirō Watanabe, the legendary creator of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.
In Japan, Lazarus already aired between April and June 2025, while fans elsewhere are still waiting for an official streaming release. Nevertheless, the series is already creating quite a buzz. No wonder so many people are wondering when the story will continue.
What’s Lazarus about?
Nobel Prize winner Dr. Skinner has made a groundbreaking discovery with the painkiller “Hapna.” Humanity suddenly lives without pain – and seemingly without risks. But three years later, the cruel truth comes to light: Hapna kills. Almost the entire population is affected, and only Skinner knows the antidote.
Shortly before the impending mass extinction, the supposedly dead scientist reappears with a dark warning: if he isn’t found within 30 days, it will be too late. An international special unit called Lazarus is sent to track him down. The mismatched team must race against time – and against Skinner’s devilish plan.
When is Lazarus Season 2 coming?
The mix of an exciting story, stunning visuals, and deep characters quickly made Lazarus one of the most talked-about anime of the year. But since the end of the first season in June 2025, there’s been radio silence. So far, there’s no official announcement for Season 2 – neither in Japan nor internationally.
Since Lazarus doesn’t have a manga source to continue the story, fans currently have only one option: wait and hope. If any new information comes out, it will, of course, be announced immediately.
