Anime fans have been eagerly waiting for Drifters Season 2 for years. But what’s the current situation – can we expect new episodes anytime soon?
The anime Drifters, based on the manga of the same name, first aired on Japanese TV back in 2016. It was also released in the US later. Since then, fans have been hoping for a continuation – especially since quite a bit of time has passed.
What is Drifters all about?
In the year 1600, during the legendary Battle of Sekigahara, the samurai Toyohisa Shimazu retreats from the battlefield and suddenly finds himself in a strange corridor between worlds. There, he meets a mysterious man named Murasaki, who, without much explanation, sends him through a door into another realm.
This new world is far from peaceful: humans share it with terrifying demonic creatures. Toyohisa encounters other historical warriors like Nobunaga Oda and Yoichi Nasu – also pulled from their respective timelines – and together, they fight epic battles to decide the fate of this strange land.

Will there be Drifters Season 2?
As popular as the anime is, there’s still no official word on a second season. Even though Drifters is available on DVD and Blu-ray, no sequel has been announced yet. And considering it’s been over eight years since the first season premiered, things aren’t looking too promising.
