What is Children of the Whales about?
In a world covered in sand, 14-year-old Chakuro lives on the Mud Whale, a drifting island that endlessly sails across the sea of dunes. The island’s inhabitants possess a mysterious power called Thymia, which grants them special abilities but also shortens their lifespan. Isolated from the outside world, Chakuro and his friends know nothing about other people. But when he encounters a mysterious girl on a foreign island, his life takes an unexpected turn.
Will there be Season 2?
Since the first season’s release with its 12 episodes, there have been no updates regarding a possible continuation. Yet, there is enough material: the original manga series was completed in 2023 with a total of 23 volumes. However, at this point, a sequel seems unlikely.
One major reason is the long gap since the last update. Nearly seven years have passed without any official announcements about season 2. Realistically, the chances are slim. However, those who want to know how the story continues can read the manga, which is also available in English.
