In 2013, the fifth and final season of Breaking Bad aired. But after more than ten years, can we still hope for a sixth season?
Breaking Bad tells the story of Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who, after being diagnosed with lung cancer, decides to start cooking crystal meth. Together with his former student Jesse Pinkman, he gets deeper into the drug world, eventually becoming the feared drug lord Heisenberg. The series brilliantly portrays how White gradually breaks his own moral boundaries.
Breaking Bad Season 6: Will there be a Sequel?
There’s no doubt that Breaking Bad is one of the greatest TV shows of all time. With an IMDb rating of 9.5, it tops the charts. After five highly successful seasons, the show had a spectacular conclusion on AMC in September 2013. A sixth season is highly unlikely.
However, fans can still enjoy more stories from the Breaking Bad universe. In 2015, the spin-off Better Call Saul premiered, focusing on the shady lawyer Saul Goodman, who played a key role in the original series.
Better Call Saul: The Prequel
Better Call Saul is set six years before the events of Breaking Bad and follows the journey of Jimmy McGill, who would later become the corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman, working for Walter White. As a struggling lawyer in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jimmy battles with his sleazy tricks and tries to lead a more respectable life.
El Camino: A Movie Sequel
In addition to Better Call Saul, the movie El Camino was released on Netflix in 2019, picking up right after the final season of Breaking Bad. The focus is on Jesse Pinkman, who is on the run after the dramatic events of the series finale. Fans will also get to see familiar characters like Mike, Badger, and Skinny Pete.
El Camino is often seen as an unofficial sixth season, as it continues the story and shows how Jesse must confront his past while trying to evade those pursuing him.
