American Gods: Season 4 has been canceled
If Amazon had maintained its rhythm regarding new American Gods seasons, the fourth season would have been released in the spring of 2022. Originally, the project had been completely planned two years earlier and was supposed to be filmed alongside the third season when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted everything.
Now, it is highly unlikely that American Gods Season 4 will come to fruition. The third season of the series ended in March 2021 with the broadcast of the season finale at a significant point from the book but far from its end. Due to significantly decreased viewership, the decision was made to cancel the fourth season.
Commercial success is crucial for the extension of certain shows or films. American Gods couldn’t attract enough viewers with its last season. Therefore, the series has been discontinued. Those who want to know how the story continues have no other choice but to read Neil Gaiman’s novel.
