The anime Akame ga Kill! follows the warrior Tatsumi, who joins a group of assassins. But when can fans expect season 2 of the series?
The show, based on the manga of the same name, was released in 2014 and is available on Amazon Prime Video, where it boasts an impressive 4.8 out of 5 stars. Internationally, the demand for a sequel is also huge. But is there a realistic chance for a second season?
Here’s what Akame ga Kill! is about
Tatsumi, a young fighter trying to earn money for his poor village, encounters the assassin group known as Night Raid. After discovering a shocking truth, he joins their mission: a bloody fight against the Empire. The series blends action, fantasy, and drama, and is rated 16+ due to its intense violence. The first season includes 24 episodes, all of which are fully dubbed in English.
Will there be a Season 2 of Akame ga Kill?
Many fans are hoping for a continuation, but so far, the creators haven’t commented on the matter. Considering that the first season aired nearly a decade ago, expectations shouldn’t be too high. Another factor against a second season is that the anime fully adapted the manga’s storyline, meaning the tale of Tatsumi, Akame, and the others is officially over. Those who have seen the finale will understand why.
However, there’s still a possibility we might see more animated stories in the future. The prequel manga Akame ga Kill! Zero tells the story of Akame and her sister before they became the Empire’s most feared assassins. If we’re lucky, this could one day be adapted into an anime as well.
