A Silent Voice moved millions of people emotionally – many viewers couldn’t hold back their tears by the end. So it’s no surprise that fans are wondering: Will there ever be a sequel? Let’s take a closer look at the chances.
Based on the manga of the same name by Yoshitoki Ōima, director Naoko Yamada created a deeply moving film with A Silent Voice. At the heart of the story are high schooler Shōya Ishida and his deaf classmate Shōko Nishimiya, whose paths cross again after years apart.
As much as fans might hope for a second part, the chances are pretty slim. The original manga is completely finished, so there’s no additional material left to adapt. And coming up with a brand-new story out of thin air is pretty rare for anime adaptations.
A Silent Voice 2 probably won’t happen – But there are Alternatives

Kousei, a young piano prodigy, loses his ability to hear music after his mother’s death. His world turns grey – until he meets the vibrant violinist Kaori, who brings color and chaos back into his life. A beautiful story about love, loss, and music.

A sequel to A Silent Voice seems unlikely, as the original manga is finished and creating new content for it is rare in anime. However, there are other emotional anime like Your Name and Violet Evergarden that offer similar experiences. It’s disappointing, but the anime world still has plenty to offer.
